Q: One-time or permanent - which do I need for Hinge?

Q: Will my matches see my number?

No. Hinge keeps voice and video calls inside the app, and the number you signed up with is never shown to your matches. Our numbers receive calls and SMS but do not place them - which makes no difference here, because Hinge never asks you to call anyone.

Q: Does adding a number verify my profile?

No. Hinge's Selfie Verification is a separate step that compares a video selfie with your photos, and the phone number has nothing to do with it. Do not buy a number expecting it to pass that check.

Q: What happens if I lose the number?

You lose the way back in, unless you also linked another sign-in method such as Apple or Facebook. Hinge sends the login code to the number on the account; if that number no longer exists, the code has nowhere to go. A one-time number is deleted about ten minutes after its code. A subscription number stays yours while it is paid: if a charge fails, service is suspended first, and the number is released to someone else only if the debt stays unpaid past the grace period.

Q: What if the code never arrives?

If no SMS arrives at all, a one-time purchase is returned to your balance automatically within 15-20 minutes. There is no ticket to open.

Q: Will using a virtual number get my Hinge account banned?
